Introduction

8th week
7 weeks, 3 days - first OB appointment today
This will be my last entry in the preconception diaries. I am moving on to the Pregnancy Today diaries. I first want to thank everyone for their support and kind and encouraging words throughout my preconception and during the first few weeks of my pregnancy. It means a lot!
Everything went well at my first appointment. Here is the rundown of what was done: First of all, we started by filling out tons of paperwork. After that, the nurse weighed me and took my urine. Then we were off to the examination room. My doctor did a pap (while my DH looked on with horror), and other various internal tests (I think he was measuring my uterus - at one point he had one hand all the way up there and the other hand was on my stomach pushing down). Then I got dressed and he handed us literature, talked for a while, and told us to sign up for the prenatal class that was being held Sep. 12.
We also made our second appointment for Sep. 12, at which point he told us we would be able to hear the heartbeat. Yippee! My doctor told me I would spot some after the examination, and I definitely did. It went away last night, but there was also a little bit this afternoon. All was dark brown, and he said it was perfectly normal because the cervix is so sensitive during pregnancy.
That was it! Afterwards, I headed to the lab to have blood drawn (after lunch). Then DH's mom and I went down to Babies-R-Us to buy a "celebratory" outfit. It is a onesie with matching socks. She bought me a hooded towel with face cloth to match the onesie. So cute! It definitely was pretty exciting. I am still waiting to hear that heartbeat though!!! I think at that point it will definitely feel more real.
Again, thanks everyone! I will be pulling for all of you to meet me over at the pregnancy diaries!
