Alisa L's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 29, 2003

I had a bit of a scare when I went for my annual and was told that I had abnormal cells on my cervix. The first thing to go through my mind is now I've done it, all these drugs to get pg and now I have cancer. Fortunately, the test results from the biopsy came back that I have mild dysplasia (when your cell first begin to change) and my dr says 5 minutes of freezing the cells and I will be fine. The scary thing is they found this problem using a new test called papsure. My papsmear came back completely normal. Goes to show you that papsmears are not as good as we think. My recommendation to all of you is to ask for papsure next time you go. It is neat, they put fluid on your cervix and then look at it with a special light and only abnormal cells light up a certain way. It cost $50.00 and insurance does not cover it yet but it is well worth it.

We took this cycle off by choice for a bit of a break from meds and it looks like this next one will be a no go because of this surgery I have to have so we are meds free for two months. I am actually enjoying it and questioning if I want to go that route anymore. I was thinking that maybe we could try naturally for awhile. Who knows I go from one point to another all the time so by the time I write again I may just be saying I want to go back on meds ASAP. I know it has been awhile since my last update. I hope that you are all doing well. I look forward to hearing from you all.
