December 18, 2006
It really could only happen to us... (I hope!)
So, dh works hella late most nights and is unable to make a deposit for labwork at that point (SA). We decided, after our Christmas party Friday night, we would get up early Saturday morning so he could fill the cup (why do I have an old hymnal playing in my head "fill my cup, fill it up, and make me whole"?) and we could rush it over to the lab for the testing.
Unfortunately... he has performance anxiety. And, no matter what you do, you can't ever tell him what to do and when cause he simply isn't going to listen. (who said husbands weren't similar to two year olds?).
So... it's Saturday morning. I wake up all sorts of early (exhausted from hosting a monsterous party the night before) and wake him up. note: I'm also frustrated because we haven't been intimate in over a week at this point. He refuses to get up... so I go let the dogs out, and then back in to jump all over him. Heck, if I can't make him move a 70 lb wet tongued fur ball should be able to do it right? :) He begins to get up and we start getting ready for our day.
Knowing that this bad boy has to be kept warm and to the hospital in 30 minutes or less (a pizza or semen, you be the judge) I decide to go start the car. Not only will that help with keeping it warm, but it also gets the frost off the windows! (do I get a cookie for my quick thinking ladies?). I come back in expecting dh to be done and ready to rock. ... yeah, not so much. He was frustrated and at that point annoyed and had given up. I advised checking out some sort of provocative movie after trying myself to intice him. I said American Pie, to which he rolled his eyes and said "not even". So, I went to turn off the car and relax on the couch, realizing that yet again our ttc would be put on hold due to performance anxiety. When I came back in I grabbed a book and just began reading. For some odd reason I remembered Coyote Ugly... that's racey isn't it? (sorry I don't do "adult films" and won't ever allow them in our home). So... I tell him and he gets it and puts it in. I explain, to ease some of the pressure, that the lab is open late some nights and he can do it then, no biggie. No pressure whatsoever... A few moments later (yeah more like 20 minutes) he decides to go shake his groove thing.
About that point I saw that our dog was doing the same, apparently in support. Sunday night our friend said that it's called "introducing the red rocket". ... scary huh? I yelled at the dog to stop (what do we need him for anyhow?) and immediately heard "LETS MOVE NOW!!!". Eddie was ready (that rhymes!).
So alas, the SA and blood work on dh's behalf was done saturday and now we're simply waiting for results.
And... on the actual "ttc" journey....
I'm officially at cycle day 53. I didn't do any clomid, we were very liberal and fancy free with our bd'ing, and well... who knows. But the likelyhood would be "not even". Although... how funny would it be to actually BE pregnant after putting dh through all that? HAH!
Merry Christmas to him.
and.... on the subject of Christmas...
I got one of my gifts yesterday! I got the new (red) razr phone. The one that was on Oprah, and also gives a portion of the money to purchase medication for pregnant hiv+ women in africa. So... not only is it really pretty, very techno-modern, but it also is beneficial to African soon-to-be-mommies!
I'm just about done with Christmas shopping... I want to go buy Eddie something else, but we'll see Friday when I get paid!
God bless you all...
Amanda
