Helen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

I'm here:O)

September 10, 2006

CD 11, Cycle 17, Met Cycle 4, TTC #1 since May 7th 2005

Hi all,

sorry it's been such a time since I last posted. Actually I am pretty sure that I did write a diary entry at the end of August, but I must have submitted it wrong or something as it isn't there???

Anyway, what's been going on with me? Well, at the end of August, I went to the Dr's as I was having wierd dizzy spells. The Dr looked at my blood pressure etc, and came to the conclusion that I had a mild inner ear infection, which was causing me to have mild attacks of vertigo. I now have yet another medication to take if I feel dizzy! Whilst I was there, I asked if Nigel's 2nd SA results were back, she confirmed they were, and the receptionist lt me have a copy. Now I am no Dr, but from what the specialist said about Nigel's first SA, and judging by what I have read and researched it looks as though this 2nd SA was normal. The only circumstance changes that were made to the two SA's, were that the first SA was performed after only 36 hours of abstination, the 2nd was after 4 days. So I figure that, so long as we wait at least 72 hours each BD, Nigel's count and Morph should be good enough to get me pregnant. Maybe this was a big factor before when we were trying, seeming as we would do it every 24 hours.

Here's DH's results for those that are interested, and so I have a record in this Diary:

So there you have it, there's enough swimmers to get me pregnant, Yay:O)

As for my fertility issues, the weight loss is going well, although I have just come back from holiday and put on 3 pounds. So that brings my total to 12 stone 7 pounds which is 175 pounds. I have just bought 2 books which outline special low GI diets for PCOS sufferers. It's amazing how much I have learnt so far about Insulin Resistance, its effect on PCOS and how to combat it. Basically, Insulin Resistance is what causes and makes PCOS worse. Instead of absorbing Glucose in my food into my blood stream, and in turn burning it as energy, my body stores it as fat around my belly, and in turn produces more Insulin to try and combat this problem. This causes all sorts of problems, and PCOS sufferers produce more Testosterone than normal. The idea behind eating a low GI diet, is that the Glucose is absorbed slower and stops your body from producing too much Insulin. This in turn forces the body to start burning fat, rather than store it. This along with the Metformin and exercise programme, should control Insulin levels, stop fat storage, burn fat as calories, give me more energy and result in my ovaries working and hormones stabilising. This will also reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes, which is caused when the Pancreas stops producing Insulin altogether. It will also reduce my risk of heart desease later in life. So I am starting to feel really optimistic about everything now.

Seeming as I have just come back from a very nice holiday with Nigel and my parents in Suffolk, England, and that we will be going to Center Parcs at the end of Septemer with friends, Nigel and I have decided to take advantage of all the relaxation we will be getting, and start tring to conceive again this month. We have been advised by the specilalist to hold off for 6 months, so I can lose weight, but what the hell, I have lost 10 pounds and it's too good an opportunity to miss, so I will keep you all updated this month on our TTC efforts. We will BD every 3 days from yesterday night, and just se what happens, you never know, maybe sitting back and relaxing will work for us?

So finally, I just wanted to say that Amanda, I love reading your diaries, they are so funny and your style of writing is great. I generally don't post on peoples talk to me boards, because they are hard to find, I have to keep going back in to check if there is a reply and I generally just don't have time to keep up with it all. If they worked lik Fertility friend, when it tells you when there has been a reply and you click on the link which takes you directly, I would but until that happens, if it happens, I will just write anything I was to say in my Diary. I read everyones Diary each week, and I look forward to all the new entries. Lisa, you are an amazingly brave woman, I can't imagine what you have been through, but I wish you all the luck in the world, and hope you full pregnant soon. Anne, your find the Cervix entry was vey vey funny, and I am sorry it didn't work out for you last cycle, here's hoping for some better news this try, now that you are armed with all the tools necessary. Happy Birthday to all you Birthday girls, I'll be 26 on October the 3rd. What's happened to all the ladies that were in the 2WW, are you pregnant or did AF come?

So good luck to all you ladies and to me, baby dust all around, and love to all,

Helen xxxxx
