In Search of the Perfect Family

nd pronounced me a "natural" days after my daughter was born, I beamed. He was right! I WAS a natural. I did everything I thought a mother should do and more. I went over and beyond the call of duty. I was a working mother but that wasn't going to stop me from being there 110 percent for my child. I was often heard saying that my career was my PART-time job and motherhood was my FULL-time job. I'm happy to report, I didn't miss a thing.
Despite my fervent wish to be not only a mother, but the very best mother I could be, I was and still am very much a PLANNER. Naturally when it came time to add another child to our family, there was careful thought and consideration to be made. Initially we had wanted our children two years apart. When the time came, being the planners we are, we decided we weren't quite ready and so we waited patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) for that coveted "right" time. Finally, our designated time to try to conceive our second child arrived, and we were both excited and ready!
Fate had other plans. It took us 14 months to conceive but we finally did it. Hot dog! Our second child was on her way. To say that we enjoyed the pregnancy would be an understatement. I denied myself nothing. And this time I had my 5-year-old daughter to enjoy it with. We both rejoiced in the upcoming birth of her little sister. Heck, I even threw her a Big Sister party. It was great! Yet, the pregnancy wasn't all fun and games.
