Cindy Margolis
A Celebrity Mom Redefines Success
By Kendeyl Johansen

Unlike many celebrities, Margolis isn't afraid to discuss infertility. "There are millions of infertile couples out there, and I want every one of them to know that there's hope with IVF and GIFT," she says. "I've had big name celebrities come up to me and say, 'What are you doing? You can't talk about this!'" But she obviously can.
Margolis wants to demystify infertility, pointing out the many female celebrities that enjoy sizzling careers and suddenly become pregnant around age 40 or older. "Many of them are getting help, and I've seen plenty of female and even male stars in Hollywood waiting rooms," she says. "I don't know why there's such a big taboo about infertility; it's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of." Margolis staunchly defends the technology that helps infertile couples conceive. "IVF is not some mad scientist experimenting in a lab," she says. "It's established medical science."
In addition to her candid views regarding infertility treatment, Margolis, one of Time and People magazines' "50 Most Beautiful People," isn't afraid to pose in public with her big belly – a huge celebrity don't. "I've gained 60 pounds, but if I gain 100 I don't care," she says. "It took me so long to get pregnant that I'm just so happyabout it." She admits to sometimes startling herself when glimpsing her body in a mirror. "A couple of times I've thought, 'Yikes, who is that?'" she says with a laugh.
A former cover girl with all the right curves, Margolis has shirked exercise while pregnant. "Plenty of pregnant women workout every day, and they're perfectly fine, but I'm just not willing to risk it," she says. "I'll exercise after I have my baby." She tries to eat healthy but admits to occasional Coke Slurpee and Oreo sprees.
