The Pressure Cooker
When Family Interferes
By Marie-Helen Goyetche
Create a united front. It's much harder to break your resolve and your spirit if you are completely supported by your spouse. How do you do that?
- Find out what YOU want. Do you want children? If so, how many, and what do you expect from the relationship between you and your spouse?
- Know your inner feelings. Sit down with your spouse and tell how and what you feel. If you can't express it face-to-face, write a letter or make a tape. Get those feelings out in the open.
- Listen to your spouse's feelings and desires. It may not be what you want to hear, but try to understand without judging.
