When He Won't Change
Your Partner's Health Matters

Second, your partner may refuse to quit because he simply doesn't "buy" the idea that his health is important to conceiving a healthy baby. Since most emphasis is placed on a woman's health when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth, it can be difficult to convince him he is an important player, too. In this case, if your doctor or health care provider can't convince him, try his peers. "If a woman is aware that some of her husband's friends have given up some of their 'vices' in order to increase their odds of being able to father healthy children, she might want to encourage them to speak to her partner about why they chose to make healthier lifestyle choices when their partners started trying to conceive," says Douglas.
